i'm seriously satisfied today. got myself a cube 30. it's a 30 watt amp by roland and it sounds so darn great. wow...amazing. and at a great deal...40% off list price.

it's a bit big though, and i wonder if my poor neighbour's will complain.

anyways, i'm selling off my 10 watt yamaha amp for 50 bucks...so anyone who wants it, just tell me. all my friends who are into guitar and need an amp, tell me if you're interested and i'll either drop the price a bit more or throw in a cable. just cos you are my friend! yay. no nah, seriously...tell me if you want it...

The Fray - How to Save a Life

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life

the top place on my "Words I Hate" list goes to DERIVE, DERIVING and DERIVATION. and we wonder why.

we had electronics today (now that we're done with circuits). and now i think that if i do too much electronics logic stuff, we'll just all evolve into robots of some sort. darren was saying next time we should just express any opinions in binary high (1) or binary low (0).

for example when someone asks "eh want to eat anot?" we'll answer "one". or when they ask "you understand" we'll answer "zero". but then we thought the electrical engineers are probably already doing it, so there's simply no fun in that.

met up with my mech&rel project group today. and i have 3 chinese scholars for groupmates (rejoice!) i just don't want to know how stressed things are going to get. i have to build a model submarine to explain mech concepts. or to be more specific, i have to build the sub while they explain the mech concepts.

the more music stuff i do, the more i really think i'll end up in the music industry in the future - whether as as a producer/musician/technician/sound engineer. somehow i'm quite sure i'll end up there. it's sort of like my calling...and very very honestly i'd prefer that the most not that i won't like to be a 'real' mech engineer or do construction at shipyards...but i will surely have music fit into some section of my life.

alright...i was going to comment about the angmoh vs the asian music scene, but not now...i need to get some studying done. maybe some other time i guess.

Stranger than your sympathy
And this is my apology
I'm killing myself from the inside out
And all my fears have pushed you out

And I wished for things that I don’t need
(all I wanted)
And what I chased won’t set me free
(all I wanted)
And I get scared but I’m not crawlin’ on my knees

Oh, yeah
Everything’s all wrong, yeah
Everything’s all wrong, yeah
Where the hell did I think I was?

And stranger than your sympathy
Take these things, so I don’t feel
I’m killing myself from the inside out
And now my head’s been filled with doubt

It's hard to lead the life you choose
(all I wanted)
When all your luck's run out on you
(all I wanted)
And you can’t see when all your dreams aren’t coming true

Oh, yeah
It’s easy to forget, yeah
When you choke on the regrets, yeah
Who the hell did I think I was?

And stranger than your sympathy
And all these thoughts you stole from me
And I’m not sure where I belong
Cause no where’s home and i'm all wrong

And I was in love with things I tried to make you believe I was
And I wouldn’t be the one to kneel before the dreams I wanted
And all the dark and all the lies were all the empty things disguised as me
Mmm, yeah

Stranger than your sympathy
Stranger than your sympathy
Mmm hmmm mmm

sleeping is a great way to overcome sadness or sian-ness depending on which it may be. and i slept through saturday. i have a test on monday, but there are other things on my mind, and believe it or not i actually consciously chose to sleep that long. feeling kind of sick too actually. having headaches quite frequently. wonder what has happened to my brain.

and so, i need to study for my fluid mech test on monday. i screwed up both tests last week - both circuits and machines. i wonder what the hell is wrong with me. it's UNDERSTANDABLE (not ok though) to screw up if you don't study or if the paper is too difficult, but i studied and the papers weren't hard. i can't seem to account for the crap i produced for both tests. and just because i never said anything to anyone doesn't mean i'm satisfied with what i've done. argh.

just some random thought, the microwave oven lets you cook stuff like it a couple of seconds. that's by vibration of molecules...that's heating up stuff. but what about cooling down stuff? like if i have some drink and i want to cool it down...i know i could put it in the fridge, but it takes almost forever (forever being around an hour) relative to the temperature change a microwave oven can do in that kind of time (probably if i put something in the microwave for like an hour it would just vapourize lah). yesh...just wondering...back to circutis

we did Bon Jovi's It's My Life and Rasmus' First Day of my life at EG. just for the record.

but anyways, i would like to seriously thank S'pore XH (not to be confused with the M'sia SH) for the organic chem textbook! haha despite my constant suan-ing and ji-siao-ing, she's still so nice to me. given the amount of support i've been getting for chem, i better not fail again (not that i want to fail it even if the whole world abandons me)

alright, got circuits test tomorrow (no, you're right, i'm in MECHANICAL engin, but no it's just a module). i'm out of here...going to "study".

I'm finding my way back to sanity, again
Though I don't really know what I am gonna do when I get there
Take a breath and hold on tight
Spin around one more time
And gracefully fall back in the arms of grace

I am hanging on every word you say
And even if you don't want to speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit
Outside Heaven's door and listen to you breathing
Is where I want to be

I am looking past the shadows
Of my mind into the truth and I'm trying to identify
The voices in my head God, which one's you?
Let me feel one more time
What it feels like to feel
And break these calluses off me
One more time

'Cause I am hanging on every word you say
And even if you don't want to speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit
Outside your door and listen to you breathing

Is where I want to be I don't want a thing from you
Bet you're tired of me waiting
For the scraps to fall
Off your table to the ground
I just want o be here now

today we had some technical difficulties during one of the lectures...and i came home to this e-mail from my prof. i think it shows why people like me are becoming so lame. how can i help it even the profs are like that?

"I am sorry that LA Lecture No. 4 (for the full-time students) had to be cut short this morning because the projector lamp blew up. Perhaps, I had released too much energy into the atmosphere during the lecture, causing the lamp to blow up! I should speak a little bit more softly in the coming lectures. Fortunately, thanks to the technicians, the back up projector was in place just in time for us to cover the main important point of the lecture."

well, technically, the projector lamp BLEW, NOT blew up, so don't worry, we're all still in one piece. although i cannot really understand how the projector lamp blowing has to do with him releasing too much energy. i thought that would result in an implosion and not an explosion as the term "blow up" implies. erm...no, i don't get it...maybe i should ask some thermodynamics prof to explain the phenomenon to me. hmm...

a couple of us were discussing that day why engineers tend to turn out so 'square'. we concluded that in a way it's just a requirement of the course.

the amount of stuff we have to understand (or remember -- depending on your attitude towards the act of learning) is unbelievable and we, like everyone else on earth, have only 24 hours a day. so, we learn to maximise our time by discussing tutorials or concepts we covered in lectures during so-called free-ier times which include mealtimes, travelling time (while walking from place to place on campus) and sometimes even toilet times (i don't want to know what those guys do). and the effect of long-term continuous discussion of physical concepts does have this squaring effect on people. don't believe me? try talking, thinking, writing in equations almost 24 hours a day without use of much language. ok, so physics grads have the same problem. if you study a course in chinese, you'd probably turn out cheena too right? no, only people like us would discuss controlled volume in the midst of lunch with bowls of udon soup. sigh.

my current status is still lagging. i wonder when the publisher will call me up to kpkb (read kao bei kao bu). i don't know what i'm going to tell him either - seriously. it's not that i'm not trying to catch up lah, it's quite difficult...i'm lagging for an average of 1.5 tutorials per module right now. and as you can tell from the timestamp of this message, i haven't slept tonight again. i cleared 1.5 miserable tutorials in one entire night, with this kind of n (efficiency) how can i finish my work? looks like recess week is going to be HELL. seesh.
