i am gonna promise myself to do something. and i will do that something, because my life is currently going nowhere. and i need to find an out before i'm going to run out of time.

everyone's going on trips or doing something useful while i'm supposedly rotting at home and enjoying myself. i need a more focused holiday -- like sort out all my outstanding issues before school reopens then i can concentrate on the important stuff.

am i supposed to be happy?
because i'm not. maybe it's because of the overwhelming realisation of my insignificance to some people and situations. or maybe it's because i'm unwilling to accept who i am -- in more than one aspect.

this holiday, i'm going to go all out to test the theory that states that if one puts a all of his/her/its effort into something he/she/it will excel in whatever he/she/it is attempting to do. and maybe if i try hard enough, i an opportunity will drop from the skies above and i'll finally stop walking in uncertainty and blindness.

i want to thank mr(D)C for multiple reasons such as willing to go to all lengths to help me master what i need/want to master.

oh well, off to sleep...it's gonna be another long day tomorrow.

surprise surprise. i'm not a people person. unlike my bro who charms the pants off everyone. haha...i guess there can only be one. and one is enough.

for now, i'm just going to stay at home, enjoy my peace and have loads of fun with or without people.

oh and for the record, i've managed to avoid falling severely ill. so just floating on a bit sick now and from what's going on i guess this feeling of sickness should fade if all goes according to plan. so i can just go out and have fun.

oh ya and i have just learnt that i can do a pretty decent recording of my guitar-ing on my handphone video thing...but i've been to lazy to try to upload and maybe try to separate the audio and video and maybe post it up or something. then again, not like i'm gonna get many comments anyway.

oh well...so much for constructive blogging.
going back to watch csi now. oh yeah...re-watching the whole season 7.

just blew all my savings for the first half of the year. why? read on...but i'm sure many won't be surprised.)

first time i spent this long looking for a guitar. really considering all possibilities before making a commitment. so i guess, in a way it's the first time i've gotten some thing i'm this satisfied with. but then again, it's also the most expensive one when the pickups are installed and set ups are done.

and of course, the great irony as usual is that, i got my guitar on thursday...today's saturday and i've yet to have the time to really sit down and play it. but hey, i have 3 more months. and the 1-3 hours i've played it so far really tells me i'm gonna have a ball of a time.

ok...guess if you're not into this, probably shouldn't read on? haha...i'm gonna try not to be so technical. the brief specs -- solid wood top, neck and sides, ebony on the bridge and fretboard. first all-solid wood guitar i've owned...so kinda nervous about the humidity problem...but after consulting the pro, he says it's ok...so i will take his word for it. after all, almost all i know about guitar is from him.

sound-wise, it's pure shiok-ness! haha...this guitar RINGS man. nice bass that's not too strong for my taste, mids balance nicely...the treble sparkles. think my description shows that my appreciation for tone has improved somewhat (not good for wallet though) and now i kinda am more sure what i'm looking for.

will probably take more pics later...for now these are all i've got.

first time i have a proper case for my guitar...

need i say more?

guitar in case

close up of sound hole area....
guess you can't see, but it basically says...
handcrafted in some factory in china, the model number brand and stuff.

oh yeah, it's a yamaha...you're not halucinating.
wanna know more details just ask me or something...
haha i write till it feels like i'm selling guitar. i already have people making offers and asking me if i'm willing to sell it. because it's apparently quite sought after, i bought the last one singapore and the next shipment will not be coming in anytime soon.

i'm getting spammed by the school for a library fine of 30 freakin' cents!

am i going to make a trip all the way back to school to pay my 30 freakin' cents fine?

NO.

so it'll have to wait till school reopens...or my school calls me back for some more significant means.

it's madness....sheesh...

last sunday i had to play this song. it was in 6/8. and there were only 2 of us...me and the piano man (woman) and because it was a guitar-based song, i had to do the main parts...oh yeah and did i mention the original track has a electric guitar base and i can only play acoustic (because of reasons).

throughout the song i was on edge. trying to keep in time...so i really tapped my foot because the song depended on it. but eventually it worked, nearly got it wrong one part because in my nervousness nearly went for the wrong chord, but eventually i quickly played a slash chord i happened to think off and disguised the error.

i guess we can't always be put in positions too comfortably. because usually we always play songs in 4/4. and at least i'm not the piano man (woman) who had to play the other 2 which were hymns. i saw her sweating in ultimate stress despite the place being like 20 degress C?

well she's new afterall (in terms of playing there...but in terms of skill and theory i bet she could whack me any day), and really she pulled it off quite nicely...with me laughing at her by the side somemore.

it's been a fine weekend. oh yeah, been asked to play next week and for camp. i don't think i'm going for the camp though although tim tried to entice me with the can-play-electric-thing. but next week i'm probably going to have another go.

oh and i used the Taylor guitar this time. it was great. it's a good thing the set up isn't to my preferences because if it was, i'll probably go GAS for a new acoustic faster and my Cort will end up untouched. but there is a difference between my guitar and one that costs twice as much as mine. when i held the wood i could feel the difference in quality...

PS. GAS = gear acquisition syndrome

EJ's concert. the guy is seriously talented and he rocked the indoor stadium despite the lousy lousy acoustics -- which was more evident because i sat somewhere different from usual.
initially the sound was terrible, the clipping in the system...the first note he played had me cringing. but later it was better partially because i became used to it, partially because the sound guy lowered the stuff.

can tell he seriously enjoyed himself. and if i were to guess i think it has something to do with him specially requesting to come down here to perform when it wasn't on the plans originally. and he made every single person in the audience feel special. the concert was 100% worth it. 2.5 hours non-stop, he just went on and on and on...like that battery commercial rabbit. fantastic.

concert stuff aside. there was one thing that made me quite pissed off. and that's that the SIS usher kept picking on me. there were so many people taking videos with their phones but she kept choosing stop me and no one else. maybe because she thought i was a kid. it was to the extent that the moment i took out my handphone, she came down the stairs and stood in the isle by my row. EVEN WHEN I TOOK OUT MY PHONE TO REPLY AN SMS. at one point i was very tempted to take out my phone, pretend to take some photos and when she came down, i would turn the cameras on her and take a big fat photo of her with a big fat flash, then post it all over the net. argh.

SIS before the concert, crowds streaming in. (it was full-house by the way)

a very poorly taken photo of the stage setup. EJ's piano with FOUR monitors. i think he enjoys surround sound man. haha...

the man himself playing "the bitch is back". though i could hardly see him, he sounded fantastic. the lighting effect thing was great. think it's similar to the one U2 used on their vertigo tour.

the guitarist (Mr Davey Johnstone) with his double-neck SG. -- him, the drummer and bassist all had long hair and somehow, whenever they like turned and stuff, their hair flowed in a fashion that looked like there's a fan blowing it back (maybe there was but i couldn't see) but the both of them looked like they should go advertise for some fashion/shampoo thing. hehe...

EJ's magic fingers. they don't play the piano, they GLIDE across the piano and the notes come out...in a way it's freaky, but the guy is SERIOUSLY TALENTED.

watched iron man today! the show reminded me of school -- in a good way. if only what i'm studying is really that cool. or maybe it is, just that i haven't reached that level of 'fun' yet.

anyway i'm running out of new stuff to do. but i still have stuff to do. but if anyone wants to go do anything...i'm always game as usual.

it's been jam packed with stuff since exams ended.

wednesday. after the paper (which was totally demoralising) went to look at guitars. look only, didn't buy. but i decided that i'm not going to buy (for the sake of buying) but just going to test guitars here and there till i find something suitable with the nice aura-like glow. like love-at-first-strum. after that, went home, watched tv and played loads of guitar.

thursday. woke up late, played loads of guitar. then went for lh's 21st birthday chalet thing till late. oh and to guen, i'm very nice one. so don't say i'm mean to you. bleah.

friday. woke up late, played loads of guitar and went for lesson. then met El and company for dinner at PS. spent the whole day there.

saturday. went to teach the kiddies the whole morning till afternoon. talked to J and L for a long long while and then went home to play loads of guitar. went to sleep early because woke up early.

sunday. felt sick in the morning. went to FY's showcase thing. met a whole lot of funky people. great times man. and got to know a relative who i didn't know before. turns out she's really nice...had dinner at newton hawker with them. it's a great refreshing change after hanging around with the engin crowd for too long.

and now that the mad part is over, next week is going to be free and easy. basically it's guitar everyday man. either till the sky turns dark or my fingers wear out...
