haha i think i look real cool in these... haha ok lah. have nothing better to do taking pictures with my phone. this is to enable myself to see in bright sunlight in the mornings and evenings. ok, so maybe i AM growing a LITTLE reckless when i drive...should and MUST be more careful.

the concert engineers interview today went alright. they need 2 logistics officers and 15 sound engineers...that's quite a limited intake. that jingyi (pronounced jing3 yi4 not jing4 yi2 as i thought earlier and i was wondering "isn't that a girl's name?") guy is quite nice. so the whole interview went quite well. and he's also a AV-all-the-way person. we just never get sick of sound systems. haha...

went for tuition too early today. forgot the time...thought it was 2:30pm when it was supposed to be 3:30pm. darn. was there doing nothing. i've been adviced to quit once again...i really want to actually...i don't even know what's making me hesitate. sighs. i really don't know. if i really do get into concert engineers, i think the load might be a bit too heavy. got to give up something...but what? this is so difficult...

hey guys, please tag more leh i really feel like no one's coming here again.

my lunch, which was some japanese cuisine of food with eggs and chicken came in a bowl...one that looked like a doggie bowl..but anyways, the food was great and i was happy.

had dinner at chomp chomp again. i drove there. had satay bee hoon and oyster omelette. yummys. ate a lot. but still slightly hungry...

food aside, super tired today thanks to yesterday's events. so i literally slept through the entire day. didn't get anything done and i didn't go to school. i missed econs lecture today...really didn't want to go and had no intention to. now i'm waiting for them to upload the video lecture online then i'll go through the stuff...and i have to go dig up my econs text book too.

i have A LOT of things to do. i'm actually busy for once! but i haven't been doing my work. so tired just thinking about it. so irritating. ash sms-ed me today to ask me if my printer was working...looks like everyone is in need of a good working printer...all those notes are making printer companies make a lot of money.

have to go for an interview with concert engineers tomorrow. then have to go teach in the afternoon - how am i ever going to get anything done at this rate? my early dismissal day next week is gone cos of the mentoring day thingy. also got 2 more bricks textbooks to buy - material science and effective communications

oh, yes next week is MAE week...they'll be selling cool windbreakers...i think...i'm gonna invest in one. hope it looks cool...will see how...uni life is actually event-filled and there are so many things going on...so many things to do and you have to do your own arrangement for a lot of stuff...that's why it's quite hectic. not forgetting campus is so big...getting from one end to the other without being late for lecture is a great stunt to pull...hehe...(me and my excuses)

woah ok, I'm at home now on my com once again rather than my laptop. i just woke up actually and i'm still really tired. went for the heritage walk this morning. have to say it was real fun actually (no sacarasm involved). XW was being her usual, mad, over-enthu self and she got VERY hyped up when we started on the sms quiz.

first, i (the team leader) had to run from the starting line to this 2 rows of envelopes suspended a distance away and grab one -- very 'amazing-race' styled. hmm...then i brought the envelope back to the team and we opened the envelope retrive the sms-quiz sheets. we had to answer 20 questions via sms and await a reply from the server to instruct us to go to the booth to get our next clue. apparently the servers were jammed and i never got that sms...weirdz. anyway, the next thing we know, we find ourselves running all over campus - from the quad to nanyang lake, to SRC and back to Yunan gardens and to NIE and then back to the quad. i think my legs are still wobbly and may give way. personally i think the worst part was when we were made to climb this super steep flight of steps behind the SRC to get to nanyang house. madness.

after the race, we had lunch at the cafe by the quad. hmm the food was nice but my roast chicken was quite difficult to eat...other than that it was great. and we had a fun time. collected my bag from XW's room and went with R for maths lecture -- LATE. woah, not a good thing cos we went in and were quite paiseh-ed. hehe...but then again, the lecturer hadn't started the lecture proper so we didn't miss much. just that now i'm not too sure of their CA system which i think he was trying to explain when we entered the LT. i think he said something about their expectations of us - which once again i missed. sat beside tim (an old churchmate) and realised that jan (from NYAV) was just seated in front of us. pretty interesting eh?

ok i'm off to see if i can get some revision done. still quite tired...sighs.

ok here i am blogging from xuwen's hall room. anyways, i think it's illegal for me to be here. but what the heck...it took me quite a while to figure out the wired/wireless connection. and i do wonder if it's working. now i'm connected to the wired one, but i'm not sure if the wireless works. sigh too lazy to test. moreover, the signal here is really way too week 11Mbps? madness...i really do hope that i didn't screw up the configs for my house network while i was touching those settings. or else i'll be so SIAN once again.

xuwen's not here right now, think she went to meet someone...she said something about food/supper...think that's where she went. i'm really bored...there's no tv, so i'm just listening to random mp3s out of sheer boredom. wonder where's the online crowd...and wonder if i should start on tutorials.

honestly my morale has been quite affected today. my students mother keeps trying to tell me how to teach. not that she has no right not to since her sons grades have been just as terrible before i started teaching him. apprently he got E8 for his latest physics paper. she keeps mentioning (most probably intentionally) that her son has done very well for both his maths and questions why he is doing so badly for his physics. she insists that i give him homework (or make that "flood him with homework") .

so tempted to tell her that it's not all about the work sometimes. but the dude doesn't understand his concepts. being able to do well in maths does not mean he'll do well in physics. just like knowing the english language well doesn't guarentee that you can comprehend and analyse every single lit/comprehension text well. it's possible to be good in maths but not good in physics.

then i move on to question my ability to teach. the guy isn't improving...i think my teaching isn't that great...and i wonder whether i should continue teaching him. i haven't seen a single of his tests papers for the past 3 months i've been teaching him. and all i know is that his mother keeps complaining his physics is bad and since his maths is great she doesn't see why his physics should be bad. i want to share the fun of physics...but can't seem to convey the concepts to him clearly enough. and he's always so impatient just dying to get to the questions and memorise the formulae. i really don't know how to teach him sometimes. sighs. i think i make a very horrible teacher. out of all my students, none of them actually seem to be "improving"...there's no improvement from what i see. ARGH. it's freaking fustrating sometimes. and i'm quite depressed and discouraged lah...don't know what i can do. now that school has started i can only spend a limited amount of time on this issues. as much as i want to help these students of mine, i won't do so at the expanse of my own future...i'm selfish...but i have to be sometimes...rite?

-XW and I at yesterday's freshman welcome ceremony!

i'm blogging on my laptop. trying to get used to it. may need to get work done on this new toy sooner or later, so i had better.

today's school was bad. i was all zoned out after 4 hours of continuous lectures. well, i had to admit i fell asleep for a infinitely small lapses of time here and there during the life sciences lecture. i simply couldn't help it, the lecturer was pretty boring. ok, not the lecturer, but the topic was a dry one. you know, the thing about classification of organisms into families, genus, species and what-have-you. but it was one great consolation that the exam at the end of the year would be a multiple choice paper which lasts 2 hours (why do i see myself shading the bubbles till i get a major headache).

my student cancelled tuition today at the last minute...i went to his house and his mother said that he had too much homework today and wanted to push the session to tomorrow. oh well, me, being me, agreed...so tuition is gonna be tomorrow instead. i headed to TP and realised that ya kun has opened! yummy! too bad i wasn't in the mood to have food, so i should be going again tomorrow for breakfast.

anyways, i'm actually very happy now...cos of a phonecall. long time since i heard from a concerned-someone...who actually bothered to call me instead of the other way around. erm never mind if you don't know what i'm yakking about, just know i'm happy. and let's just hope i stay this way long enough. just wished i wasn't in that much of a state of luan-ness/nervousness that i didn't know what i was saying and asking. i got some of my doubts cleared and was told to be careful and not fall ill, it's that obvious eh? hmm think it's cos i've been feeling sick lately that's why i've been feeling lousy. hmm but i feel better now i guess...*grinz*

jammed a bit after dinner...and it does help having the volume up. the only thing is i wonder how many people in my neighbourhood are gonna complain about noise polution soon. starting to like jamming, just playing random stuff improvised from my scales and a couple of licks and rifts from the text. i feel bad about disappointing D.Chai yesterday, so i must practice harder...just gonna keep fiddling around with the guitar i guess, that's how i picked up some very cool stuff anyway.

so uni started today. met T^3 (a shi-fu of mine) in the morning at the bus stop opposite NIE. haha we looked at each other for so long cos weren't sure if we recognised the correct person. hmm but since he's working there, think i'll probably be running into him quite frequently...

i can tell you my current state is one ultimate mess. so many lecture notes to print (don't know if i'm even supposed to print them all), so many tutorials to print (i pity my printer cos it's really overworking)...there's so much to do i really don't know what to do first. i just printed my entire's sem worth of lab manuals and i didn't believe the amount of paper i used...one THICK stack. why does all the uni stuff appear to come in STACKS? THICK stacks...seesh.

it's madness...i even have make-up lessons for all the cancelled lessons this week! and have to go back to school this friday evening and saturday morning!!! hopefully they're just teething problems and once i start settling down and get used to it, my life won't be THIS hectic. if it continues like that through the 4 years i might just go loony. not that hectic is no good, cos i won't need to be thinking of certain things...but it's still draining man~

the welcome ceremony was interesting. i think the wearing of the convocation robes was supposed to inspire us. but personally what inspired me more were the professors, wish one day i can graduate with phD then i can wear those robes too...

saw a lot of firmiliar faces today too. hmm it's a small world i guess.

as for guitar today, i think D.chai was pretty pissed with me cos i kept screwing up. must be cos i was tired. but i tried...then he kept trying to correct me, but i just couldn't catch and pick up what he was telling me. so can see him shaking his head frantically going "no...no...." feel so bad. sighs. but i still look forward to guitar lessons...once again, hope this will just be temporary. maybe it's the lack of sleep...hmm the poor guy is trying to be friendly with us but we're so stoned/stony he doesn't know where to start. haha...quite funny.

anyway, i think i'd better go to sleep. gotta wake up at inhuman times once again tomorrow - or make that later today. sigh a few hours of sleep...better make the most of it. will blog more when i'm free-ier.

ok my last official day of freedom. gosh, and i'm sitting at home wasting time cos i can't think of anything to do. was playing Crazytaxi when suddenly i was reminded of something that happened last friday. i drove to school and while i was on campus, i passed a junction where this black car just cut out of the side road from my left and i emergency braked. haha my father who was beside me tried to push the steering wheel to the right and had accidentally touched the windscreen wiper switch to 'super clean like siao' mode. for a moment i thought i was gonna die, not cos of the car, but cos somehow i thought that the windscreen wipers started going haywire cos the airbags were gonna pop out. hehe...i feel silly. but lucky i managed to brake in time...and the guy in the other car apologised...so it's alright i guess. and it wasn't my fault so my confidence is still ok...

bought a labeler yesterday. cos it was on cheap sale. was at J8 to watch fantastic four. nice show, close adaptation to the comic. wise move by the producer/director to keep the movie as close to the comic as possible or else he might face the wrath of the marvel fans out there. personality-wise i prefer mr fantastic out of the 4...but of course the coolest power had to be the human torch.

sigh ok i'm off to find something else to do.

i bought 2 bricks books today. seesh, they're so THICK and HEAVY. i carried them from NIE to the south spine carpark near NBS till i nearly died. when i reached the carpark, i was perspiring like mad and half-dead. my legs nearly gave way!!! in fact, i'm still super tired now. i've never had textbooks so thick in my life. they're in full-colour though, that's what making me super happy! *grinz* i like coloured textbooks...cos the diagrams inside will be coloured and diagrams are very important to me cos i will sleep reading a book full of words. let's just hope my maths improves and my physics becomes invincible...

the orientation talks were ok...just that they got a little draggy and i got hungry (and sleepy...) but i didn't fall asleep ok! it's a long time since i actually sat in an LT for such a long time, listening to people going on and on and on...got to get used to it all over again. probably my tolerance would have improved, but the major question is how long it'll last.

uni system is complicated - probably will take some getting used to. majors, minors, academic units, add/drop...blah blah blah. so, i'm going to shift my timetable around and fit a bit more things in.

the orientation talks revolved around time management and 'active learning' etc...he said that things are not going to be the same and we cannot use the same traditional methods of learning...rather than memorising and route learning, we need to search for 'the deeper meaning within'. haha...sounds so yoda "search for the deeper meaning within, we must!". still, i'm just hoping all goes well...and if it's true that less memory work is needed, i'll feel much better. the prof at MAE said MAE is the best engineering school in NTU. nice way of advertising and boosting everyone's morale...but it's cool.

ok it's been a long day and i'm kinda sleepy. tuition tomorrow. oh man, those kiddies again. argh...somehow i intend to study harder yet there are other things i have yet to give up. and i wonder if i should. sighs...the dilemma...someone help.

oh ya, latest update...i predict ya kun kaya toast TP to open this weekend...* yums =P *

it's a conspiracy!!! the post of PA head always ends up being taken by people who are so willing to do everything for the CCA. i really do wonder why...this annoucement of postitions never fails to bring out disappointment in people. i can totally understand the sentiments of some of my juniors right now cos i'm reminded of my own thoughts back then. but i look back now without hating how things turned out...nor do i still feel lousy about not getting what i wanted. but during that time (like what my juniors are experiencing right now), it was really bad...to the extent i felt like quitting. now i'm glad i didn't...but how are they supposed to know? i just made a lucky choice and hung in there...i feel like going back to check out how my juniors are. but school's starting! gosh...what great timing.

anyways...back to today. my student's physics (according to his mother) is really terrible. but from what i see, he's doing fine. it's just simply weird. and with my school teaching, i will have less time to plan what i want to teach him. and not to mention my small kiddies (those pri3 people). my guitar will remain my passion (ok besides physics)...d.chai rawkz. haha...

school starts tomorrow .though unoffically, it's bad enough. got to get there by 9am cos that's when the talks start. hope no profs will go "so, u finished your NS?" to me tomorrow. it always turns into a complicated mess that's difficult to clear up. think i'll be buying my texts too. yay...i need to blow the dust off my brain and find the switch for the power supply. i'm outta here.

oh man~! my timetable is out. ok so it has been out for a while. i'm really sad cos i'm unable to fit the physics module into my schedule. sigh...i feel so lost now. thought that getting my timetable will make things more certain. and given my current timetable, i have to shift my physics tuition timing. probably push it half an hour later...but that's with the assumption i get my car soon.

ok basically it goes something like that...
monday the siong-est - 3 hours of lab, 4 hours of tutorials and lectures.
tuesday the slackest - 2 hours of lectures
wednesday quite slack too - 3 hours of lectures
thursday will be alright - 5 hours of lessons...but lessons start slightly later.
friday will be quite slack too - 2 hours of lessons in the afternoon.

yes, there's econs. i so feel like switching to another module. but it's so troublesome. and even if i switch, i won't be able to fit my physics minor in cos the clash occurs in my core module not an elective! grrrs!

ok so that's that for my timetable. on the whole, it seems better than the one i had in JC. ah well let's just wait and see...thinking twice about taking up a CCA now think guitar may be enough at the moment...

i'm having a headache. not a splitting one, but just one that's irritatingly there. sighs. i think i'm running a fever too, hope it's not going to evolve into anything serious. i can't afford to get sick since school starts this friday.

made a trip to NTU today. tong shou's room is nice and spacious...went walking around the campus. visited both bookshops to have a look at the textbooks...they're expensive. gosh...averaging $50-$70 each. i want my physics text, and i believe with my standard, maths text is a must...those 2 books will probably set me back around $120. considering the chemistry text. ah wells, the new school term holds so much uncertainty...

i'm supposed to be getting my timetable tomorrow. means a lot...esp when i'll know if i have to take the dreaded econs module...grrrs. i really hope i don't have to do econs anymore...2 years of headache is way more than enough.

oh by the way, i finally got my neck & shoulder rub. it helps...but doesn't elimate my neckache. seesh, better than nothing i guess.

i drove to J8 today too. first time i drove into a multi-story carpark and had to navigate a narrow course. well, the course wasn't exactly narrow for that carpark...but it made good practice for a first-timer. did a nice vertical parking too...again, i wonder is it due to my luck. there were very few cars there cos i went to the top deck -- because didn't want to malu myself once again...i'll need all the practice i can get. not forgetting that i haven't even done one parallel parking since i 'graduated' from driving school neither have i done one without poles...

ok i'm off to get rid of my headache. panadol anyone?

wah lao eh! today's guitar lesson was real great. learnt a lot of new patterns for improvision. D.Chai's lessons are getting more and more interesting...and although it's really technical, it helps when i actually want to improvise. more theory...and very experimental. hmm...think there are people in my class who are actually quite impatient and are wondering why we can't go play "real stuff" instead. haha then we see poor D.Chai trying to get everyone to listen to him...he sometimes resorts to desperate measures...like:

Chai: some people will ask me why there are 5 patterns...
Us: ...
Chai: so...ask me leh...
Us: ...
Chai: oei, don't like that...ask me leh...
Us: why are there 5 patterns?
Chai: *happily starts explaining everything...*

haha now that i think about it, it's really quite funny. he does a lot of this sort of stuff in class...and you'll see a whole class of stoned faces looking at him. he's a nice guy though. oh wells.

tomorrow we're gonna help tong shou move into NTU hall. sighs. i have to wake up early...i'm so lazy. school is starting real soon...i need to enjoy the last days of my LIFE. sighs.

learnt how to drive to NTU today. it only takes 20-30 minutes, without me even speeding (70-80km/h)!!! oh gosh...can't believe it. though i need to go firmiliarise myself on the routes within the school...cos i need to decide which carpark i want to use in the future and everything. =P

learnt a bit of vertical parking today too. a bit to the right, but at least the car was parked straight. ah well. wonder if it was a lucky shot...i'm not even sure myself. so i hope i actually know how to do it again the next time i have to. if not i'll be in ultimate malu-ation once again.

actually i did nothing much today. other than driving to NTU. oh we went to look at cars too at the ikea area. i know how to drive to ikea now (ok maybe not so exactly but roughly) know i have to go by AYE... interesting eh? can go for meatballs sometime when school starts during one of my breaks or something. think my father thinks i'm nuts. well, maybe...just MAYBE...ah whatever man. wonder why i like ikea meatballs so much...it's just nice~

note: above entry is based on the assumption that i'll be getting a car soon. *dreams*

edit
i drove back from SG today. yes, twice to the gardens in 2 days. so now at least i know how to go to and from one place in singapore. haha sounds so pathetic. dinner was fish and chips *yummy*. and nope, i didn't do the parking cos my father drove there not me. yups...i think will be trying to make a trip to NTU tomorrow. we'll see...

today's tuition was not too great. argh...sometimes these kids drive me nuts. sighs.
anyways, rewind to last night. i drove to gardens for supper...the coffee shop opposite chomp chomp. there's chompang nasi lemak there now. cool!

i need to learn how to park without those poles. darn! when i couldn't find the lot (cos it was painted on the floor) i was literally going all over the place. lucky i didn't crash into the car beside me. that was vertical parking...wonder if i'd do better for parallel. so paiseh...at first there was no one around to look at me make a fool of myself but suddenly this car appeared and i realised the driver was looking at me.

oh and driving on the CTE was quite an experience...everyone was driving so fast. so i increased my speed too! now i drive at 60-70km/h...think give me a bit more time and i'll be driving faster soon.

i like driving...hope i get more chances to drive around. i need to learn how to get to school too. oh well. there's still loads of stuff to learn!

yups. great day today. even though i feel kinda sick...it's alright cos...I PASSED! yipppieee~!

it was supposed to be 4 points. but no, i ended up with 14.
why? cos at the last minute, when i was turning left back to the driving centre - just as i completed the turning, this taxi uncle came out after picking up a passenger. he didn't check his blindspot and just moved off and at a pretty fast speed. gave me quite a scare, so i e-brake and horned.

ok...so i horned kinda loudly cos i didn't know how to control the volume of my horn - i've never horned before. my tester got quite a shock and so did the taxi uncle...how many people actually horn during their test.

and so...that was how i got my 10 points ( "slow reaction in avoiding danger cause by others"). argh...there went my nice score of 4 points. but heck, i passed and i won't ask for more.

let's see...then i met LH at AMK central mos where we talked cock for a while. she passed me the AV camp photos already, so to elizabeth, yihui and clare, if you people are reading this, please contact me to get your photos! they're quite nice i must say...i have the photos for the sec4s too...wonder how i'm going to get it to them.

alright...i'm off to watch tv. now that i've got this class 3 license out of my way and into my pocket, i can move on to do other stuff. yay!
oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ELIZABETH!
sorry, no high end laptop for you...will a treat do? *grinz!*

had driving with uncle ong today. yes...not al again, but uncle ong is good too. everytime i have his lesson we really talk a lot...from school stuff to current affairs to i-don't-know-what-else.

we were talking about the NKF issue as i drove along. i notice that i always drive better when i'm having a casual chat with my instructor. although sometimes i'd be slightly distracted...but it's better than when i'm all nervous. wish i could have a nice chat with my tester too, but that'll never happen. ah whatever. i just need to be all cool and collected.

as for the NKF issue, now that the guy has stepped down, i think it should just be put behind us. donations shouldn't stop...or else the poor patients will be the ones who suffer. i guess it'll be a lesson to all...esp the charity organisations. now the NKF has to regain the confidence of the people. and it's not going to be easy...trust is something that's never simple and once it's gone, it's very hard to regain.

ok, i need to have an early night. require all the alertness and coolness for tomorrow's test. grrs. hope i pass...

i must pass pass pass this friday!

went to drive today. al has moved out of the afternoon shift...so got another instructor instead. he was ok, way better than that irritating 'taxi uncle' i had before the previous test. but i wonder why my fixed-instructor cost hasn't been credited back into my account. sigh i certainly hope i don't have to approach the counter to get my money back. how paiseh...

my sandals were getting in my way. weird cos i thought i wore them before. (must be the other pair then). i constantly couldn't find where the accelerator was and i couldn't judge where the brakes were. my left sandal kept blocking my right sandal and everything so got plenty of late braking and over-stepping of accelerator leading to the *VROOM VROOM* sounds...thank goodness no one on the roads thought i was trying to race them. i think i wasn't in good form today, probably too tired or something...when the instructor said "zhuan2 zuo3" i actually went to keep right. didn't seem to be focusing...the guy thought i was some ang mo kia who didn't understand chinese that well...
ah well, this goes to show i've got to do a 'full-dress rehersal' during tomorrow's revision. and i need a good rest before friday.

i know if i drive like how i drove today, i won't make it...could tell my instructor said i was alright cos he didn't want me to lose my confidence. got loads of brushing up to do tomorrow, but i still stand quite a good chance of clearing it this time.

anyways, i'm totally not looking forward to the mad rush i'll be in after the revision lesson cos i have 10 minutes to get to my student's house. hope my brain would have warmed up by then.

official opening...

first, i would like to say...yes i'm a physics freak. but i'm not good at it. liking/taking an interest in something does not mean you have to be good in it. yes i can say this now, but when i don't do well for my test, i know i'll feel will still super lousy.

this blog is still in its rough stages...going to make several changes over the next few days. like try to look for a better picture and better matching colour for the shoutbox.

i think i'm quite decided on moving here. blogger has improved much while i was away. yet i can't bear to stop using my other journal. i'm having a headache...will someone help me? maybe i'll do "parallel posting"...hmm...suggestions guys...please?

maybe moving will help me boost my site traffic again. wonder why less and less people visit. is it cos i'm becoming increasingly un-entertaining? or is it cos everyone is simply busy...someone please show me that there's actually even web traffic passing through my blog.

Beneath the noise, below the din,
I hear your voice, it's whispering,
in science and in medicine,
I was a stranger, you took me in...
