ok here i am blogging from xuwen's hall room. anyways, i think it's illegal for me to be here. but what the heck...it took me quite a while to figure out the wired/wireless connection. and i do wonder if it's working. now i'm connected to the wired one, but i'm not sure if the wireless works. sigh too lazy to test. moreover, the signal here is really way too week 11Mbps? madness...i really do hope that i didn't screw up the configs for my house network while i was touching those settings. or else i'll be so SIAN once again.

xuwen's not here right now, think she went to meet someone...she said something about food/supper...think that's where she went. i'm really bored...there's no tv, so i'm just listening to random mp3s out of sheer boredom. wonder where's the online crowd...and wonder if i should start on tutorials.

honestly my morale has been quite affected today. my students mother keeps trying to tell me how to teach. not that she has no right not to since her sons grades have been just as terrible before i started teaching him. apprently he got E8 for his latest physics paper. she keeps mentioning (most probably intentionally) that her son has done very well for both his maths and questions why he is doing so badly for his physics. she insists that i give him homework (or make that "flood him with homework") .

so tempted to tell her that it's not all about the work sometimes. but the dude doesn't understand his concepts. being able to do well in maths does not mean he'll do well in physics. just like knowing the english language well doesn't guarentee that you can comprehend and analyse every single lit/comprehension text well. it's possible to be good in maths but not good in physics.

then i move on to question my ability to teach. the guy isn't improving...i think my teaching isn't that great...and i wonder whether i should continue teaching him. i haven't seen a single of his tests papers for the past 3 months i've been teaching him. and all i know is that his mother keeps complaining his physics is bad and since his maths is great she doesn't see why his physics should be bad. i want to share the fun of physics...but can't seem to convey the concepts to him clearly enough. and he's always so impatient just dying to get to the questions and memorise the formulae. i really don't know how to teach him sometimes. sighs. i think i make a very horrible teacher. out of all my students, none of them actually seem to be "improving"...there's no improvement from what i see. ARGH. it's freaking fustrating sometimes. and i'm quite depressed and discouraged lah...don't know what i can do. now that school has started i can only spend a limited amount of time on this issues. as much as i want to help these students of mine, i won't do so at the expanse of my own future...i'm selfish...but i have to be sometimes...rite?

Beneath the noise, below the din,
I hear your voice, it's whispering,
in science and in medicine,
I was a stranger, you took me in...
